Former US President Donald Trump claimed on Friday night that the Gaza Strip should be transformed into a "free zone", noting that conditions there had been dire for years.

Trump explained that the people of Gaza love living in the Middle East and do not need to go to countries like Sweden or Germany, adding: "They could have a homeland in their own region."

He noted that he had discussed this issue with the leaders of the three countries he visited during his recent Gulf trip, stressing that these leaders had expressed their willingness to participate in finding a solution for Gaza, one of whom told him: "Please help the Palestinian people; they are starving." Trump added: "I told him that we have started to act to help the people of Gaza."

Regarding his relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump responded to a question about his "boredness" with him: "He has a difficult situation, and we must not forget what happened on October 7, a day that will live long in memory." He added: "If I had been president at the time, the attack on October 7 would not have happened, and Iran would not have been able to support Hamas with money and weapons."

In previous statements, Trump expressed doubts about Netanyahu's ability to implement a prisoner exchange deal, saying: "I'll find out soon if he can do it." He added that some Israeli prisoners in Gaza are in poor condition, while others are better. He stressed that he is working with the Israelis to secure their release, while also emphasizing the need to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza.
